Hi, I'm Dave.
I built Elevate Publishers from zero, with no money to invest, starting in March 2023.
I came into self-publishing kind of by accident. I was a student looking for income, I'd already tried a couple of other online business models, and I stumbled into KDP without really planning to. What kept me here was realizing this could be way bigger than a side income, if I actually treated it like a real business instead of a side hustle.
So that's what I did. Since I couldn't afford paid ads or fancy tools, I started completely for free and promoted everything through organic content instead. And along the way I figured out something most people in this space never do: Amazon isn't your business, it's your supplier. The book is just one product, a reliable low ticket offer sold on a trusted platform, that fits into something much bigger.
That reframe changed everything for me. Instead of chasing one bestseller after another and hoping Amazon's algorithm stayed happy, I started building an actual system: content that brings people in, free resources that give real value upfront, and a path that moves people from that free resource to my books, and eventually to the products I sell outside of Amazon completely.
And I'm not done. I'm improving every single day, testing new things, throwing out what doesn't work, and I'm still figuring parts of this out in real time, right alongside everyone in this community.
